The iconic RCAF / ARC Snowbirds flew over Yellowknife on July 13. I had previously posted an image of a plastic model and a watercolour of one of the airplanes that I’d made. These pictures were photographed from the roof of my house. Incredibly skilled pilots flying so close together in airplanes that were designed and built in the early 1960s. #snowbirds #yellowknife #431airdemonstrationsquadron

Metal - Plastic - Paper. Two of these were made by me. Plastic - modified 1967 vintage 1/72 Airfix Super Freighter, converted to the version flown by Wardair based in Yellowknife, NT. Paper - a water colour of the original (Metal) now a museum on a pedestal in Yellowknife. It has been just over a year since I shut down the

It has been just over a year since I shut down the work computer for the last time. Do I miss my job ?. Answer- Yes, and No. I do miss viewing landscape changes, writing computer code to process 100’s or 1,000’s of satellite images. I certainly do not miss sitting in front of a computer all day, and do not miss‘office life’. The past year has been one of the best, and finally having time to work on long- shelved projects, spend time with friends and family, and travel. Photography has been on the back burner for the past few years, and woodworking. Much more travelling is in the cards for the upcoming year. Details to follow.

I couldn’t have asked for anything else. She strips the paint and I work on the mechanicals. Couples that work on landcruisers together - stay together. #landcruiser #cruiserlovers

Down and out a long way from home (the truck - not me !). 4,000km from home and the head gasket blows. It is an expensive repair. Thoughts of sell as-is and get something newer, or pay for the repairs. A scroll through where I been with it in the past year; Ghost Creek and Forestry Trunk Road (Alberta), back roads near Crows Nest Pass (British Columbia), Salt Lake City, Valley of Fire, and on frozen Great Slave Lake (Northwest Territories). Add appliance repair to my resume. If it’s broke - an excuse to take it apart Right!. Washer stopped working due a broken piece of black plastic in the door latch. Swapped out the entire door latch salvaged from the local city landfill (“YKEA” ie Yellowknife IKEA). Works good as new. Do you have repair - recycling stories?. #fixedit #repair

13,428 km from home (Yellowknife - Christchurch) and 48 degrees difference (-35 in Yellowknife), my sleep is again disrupted by snow machines. Here in Christchurch they are for tours at the International Antarctic Centre.
